Historical Context

The town of Colonie is located in the Albany County, New York area and is the most populous suburb of Albany. There are a number of United States National Register of Historic Places located in Colonie, including multiple cemeteries.

Scope of Collection

The collection itself is composed of documents and photographs created by the late R. Arthur Johnson throughout the 1970s. The smaller Colonie-area cemeteries are shown here. These cemeteries are usually centered around one or a small group of families on land originally owned by them. The general timeframe of the burials in these cemeteries ranges from the late 1700s until the early 1900s. Some of the earlier graves were for individuals involved in or touched by the Revolutionary War.
