Historical Context

The Town of Brutus in Cayuga County is located north of Auburn and east of Syracuse, and includes the village of Weedsport. 

The Old Brutus Historical Museum has many diverse collections which will interest inquisitive visitors and the dedicated researchers looking for information on the history of the Town of Brutus and its earliest settlers: the farmers, the merchants, and the canalers.

 

Scope of Collection

This collection includes four items from Brutus-area residents: a Civil War soldier's company orders, personal reminiscences about the Civil War, an 1899 enumeration of the village of Weedsport, and the enrollment records for women in 1918.
