About

Founded in 1870, Canisius University is one of 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the nation. It is a private four-year university in Buffalo, New York. Canisius offers more than 70 majors, minors and special programs leading to bachelor and masters degrees through the College of Arts & Sciences, the Richard J. Wehle School of Business, and the School of Education and Human Services. Canisius provides many options for career preparation or higher-level educational pursuits.

Canisius College Church Records

Church Records: St. Mary of the Assumption R.C. Church (a k.a. St. Mary’s on the Hill,1847-1909) Lancaster, NY - Throughout the 1970s and into the late 1980s Canisius College assisted in the preservation of hundreds of church records and ledgers documenting the history of churches, cemeteries and faithful residents of the western, central and northern NY, southern Ontario and northwestern Pennsylvania. A complete list of records is available through Canisius College Archives. Currently, this is the ONLY digitized group of records. Reformatting effort will continue as funding becomes available. Clayton Murrary, S.J., this scrapbook represents a small portion an enormous effort by Father Murray to maintain contact with Canisians, as well as keep track of their service records throughout World War II.
